What is recommended maintenance and why is it important?

Recommended maintenance is the auto service suggested by your car's manufacturer to keep your car in great shape. In your owner's manual, you'll find recommended maintenance intervals that will let you know how often your particular model needs auto service. Sticking to that schedule will ensure your car gets the attention it needs to perform at its best and stay in shape as long as possible.

When do I need an oil change?

Many technicians recommend changing your oil every 3,000 miles, but you can check your owner's manual to see what's recommended for your particular vehicle.  You should also check with a technician if the oil light on your dash comes on.

How often should I rotate my tires and are tire rotations really necessary?

It's typically recommended that you have your tires rotated every six months or 6,000 miles, but your owner's manual will give you a more specific range for your particular vehicle. Tire rotations are important to keep your tires in good condition for as long as possible and to improve your car's performance.

How can I tell if my brakes should be checked?

You should have your brakes inspected each time you bring your car in for service. You should also have them checked right away if you notice any of the following warning signs:

  • It takes a long time to slow down and stop.
  • You hear a grinding or squealing sound when applying the brakes.
  • The car pulls to one side when braking.
  • You feel a vibration when applying the brakes.

When should I replace my car battery?

Once your battery is three years old, you should have it inspected to ensure it's working correctly. You should also have it checked and potentially replaced if your engine takes longer than usual to start, you notice swelling or buildup on the battery case or the battery light on your dash turns on.


 
 

Why is my check engine light on?

There are a number of reasons why your check engine light could be on. If the light is on and you don't notice anything unusual about your car's performance, head on over to our service e center and we can diagnose it for you. If the light comes on and you do notice something unusual, like bucking or a weird sound, pull over and call for a tow.
